As the name suggests the 2006 Nissan Titan is a big, bold approach in pickup design manufactured by a company with an established history for strong, dependable products. Nissan may be based outside the United States, but that shouldn't cloud your judgement in relation to the Titan, because the engineers at Nissan have created a very capable pickup that is the equal of any competitor whether it be homegrown or from elsewhere. The Nissan Titan was introduced to the North American market in 2003 and offered as a 2004 model. Since its introduction there has been little to change to the Titan, and differences between the 2005 Nissan Titan and 2006 model are restrained to changes in standard and optional equipment.
It was a bold intention but one that Nissan has managed to achieve courtesy of its range of Titan models. So what's different about a 2006 Nissan Titan compared with a 2005 Nissan Titan? Well for a start on the XE you can now opt for Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) together with locking differential and a Tow Package. While on the SE version standard equipment includes dual zone climate control, power folding heated mirrors with auto dim and integrated turn signals. In addition, other improvements include a factory-applied spray-in bedliner, cargo securing accessories and a storage compartment built in the offside rear fender.
The 2006 Nissan Titan retains the distinctive, handsome looks it had when originally introduced and continues with King or Crew Cab body styles. The Titan is offered as either a 2wd or 4x4. In line with Nissan's philosophy of producing a powerful, full-size pickup, just one engine is offered, the 5.6 V-8, 32 valve, which generates 305 hp and 375 lb-ft of torque mated to a 5 speed automatic transmission with Tow/Haul Mode. Both 2 and 4x4 are equipped with Limited Slip differentials while the 4x4 also receives an electronic locking rear differential. Trim Levels are designated XE (base model), SE and LE with available options shown in the table below:

Highlights of the equipment described in the table above for the 2006 Nissan Titan are:
Off-Road Packages
Increased ruggedness is provided by these packages designed to enhance the capabilities of the 2006 Nissan Titan when the rough gets serious. If your purchase will regular travel across rough terrain then you should opt for an Off-Road Package in order to ensure reliability.
Front Captains Chairs
Only available with the SE and LE models, the large and very comfortable front captain's chairs are equipped with drop-down armrests and, on the top range LE version, are included heat and power adjustment. Titan's equipped with captain's chairs also come with a floor mounted shift transmission tunnel and centre console with cup holders and additional storage.
Nissan Advanced Airbag System
The Nissan Advanced Airbag System offers enhancements to safety by the provision of additional sensors that recognise an unoccupied or child occupied front passenger seat, while airbag activation is reactionary to the severity of a crash.
Conclusion
The design concept for the Nissan Titan came from California whilst the body is built outside of Jackson, Mississippi and engines are constructed outside Nashville, Tennessee. The result is a handsome, roomy, powerhouse equipped to routinely handle the most rugged terrain or act as an occasional cross country visitor. Whatever you need a pickup to be, the 2006 Nissan Titan can fulfil the role.
